Presentations Will Address Energy Efficiency and How to Build Cloud Computing Infrastructure


MARLBORO, MA--(Marketwire - March 30, 2009) - Egenera, Inc., the leader in data center infrastructure orchestration, today announced that Ken Oestreich, vice president of product marketing, will speak at the SYS-CON Cloud Computing Expo in New York on March 31st at 3:25 PM, and the ITFMA conference in Atlanta, Georgia, April 3 at 9 a.m.

At the SYS-CON Cloud Computing Expo, Mr. Oestreich will discuss how cloud providers build their infrastructure management tools as well as the generic requirements faced by those wishing to be internal or public cloud providers. The significant focus will be on how to approach managing the physical hardware infrastructure, networking and storage that underpins any native or virtual environment. He will also touch upon impacts on IT-OPS/ITSM processes, and how they fit into this new shared and automated infrastructure.

At the ITFMA conference, Mr. Oestreich will present on Fundamentals of IT Energy Consumption and Efficiency Metrics. This session will address how energy consumption is measured, how to calculate and benchmark classes of IT energy efficiency, and where IT should look for improvements. Mr. Oestreich will also cover how to prioritize energy efficiency and capacity improvement initiatives, including costs and payback ranges.

Ken Oestreich is vice president of product marketing with Egenera, and has spent over 20 years developing and introducing new products into new markets. Recently, he's been involved in bringing utility- and cloud-computing technologies to market.
