Edwin Schlossberg Holds Eleventh Solo Show in New York City From April 25 - May 30 Titled "At the Moment"

Exhibition Features Paintings That Combine Text and Abstract Images on Aluminum Panels and Investigate Boundaries of Perception and Interaction

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 6, 2009) - From April 25 to May 30, Ronald Feldman Fine Arts will present twenty-two new works by Edwin Schlossberg in his eleventh solo show at the gallery. Titled "At the Moment," the exhibition features paintings that combine text and abstract images on aluminum panels and investigates the boundaries of perception and interaction.

Throughout his expansive career, Schlossberg's art has expressed his curiosity about the recursive and reflexive systems at work when humans interact with the world around them. His new series of paintings extend that inquiry into a dense visual field of refracted light, imagery, and language that subtly invites viewers to consider what their thoughts might look like at the very moment they are contemplating them.

"Through these images, I wanted to explore how our thoughts relate to our physical presence in the world," Schlossberg says, "and I wanted to express that in a way that would give the viewer an opportunity to become an active participant in the journey."

Schlossberg's work offers a metaphor of what nervous systems that support consciousness might look like. More compelling still, he carries the investigation further by engaging viewers in thought about how their nervous system is actively participating in a sensory exchange with the paintings' symbolic and figural forms.

Schlossberg believes that art, like science, is an open process of discovery for the observer, as well as the maker. His newest paintings invite careful attention to their subtle perceptual changes, while also leading viewers to consider their own place within the experience.
