uTest Named to the First Annual InformationWeek Startup 50

Leader in Crowdsourced Testing Selected by InformationWeek as a Young Technology Company to Watch

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - April 28, 2009) - uTest®, the world's largest software testing marketplace, announced that it has been named to the InformationWeek's Startup 50, a list of the top 50 business technology start-ups. The winners were selected by InformationWeek readers and editors.

A wide range of technology companies -- primarily those focused on virtualization, the cloud and SaaS -- were nominated for the award. Through online voting by readers and the analysis of the publication's editorial staff, the winners were selected based upon the following criteria:

  • Innovation, and ability to inject new ideas into business processes
  • Value, reflected in lower costs, increased sales, and higher productivity
  • Enterprise-readiness, i.e. whether the product/service scales and can be managed by IT pros

uTest enables its customers to get their web, desktop and mobile applications tested through a global community of QA professionals, which has grown to more than 16,000 testers in 153 countries worldwide. uTest customers report higher application quality, faster time to market and dramatically reduced testing costs. During Q1 2009, uTest achieved a 300 percent increase in quarter-over-quarter revenue.

"The software space is more competitive than ever -- for example, iPhone just reached its one billionth app download. And with stakes this high, app quality and time-to-market are critical," said Doron Reuveni, uTest CEO. "uTest enables our customers to fulfill their application testing needs, and to do it at a fraction of the cost of the alternatives. We are honored to be named to InformationWeek's prestigious list of startups to watch."

"It was difficult to limit ourselves to 50 startups because there are a lot of exciting companies out there," said Andrew Conry-Murray, Business Editor, InformationWeek. "That said, we believe the InformationWeek Startup 50 represent innovative solutions to critical business problems that are worthy of enterprise consideration."
