New Mule Financial Information eXchange (FIX) Transport Supports Messaging Standard for Real-Time Electronic Exchange of Securities Transactions
Community-Driven Contribution Simplifies FIX Integration for Financial Institutions
| Source: MuleSource
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - May 12, 2009) - MuleSource, the leading provider of open
source service oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure software, today
announced that a Mule ESB transport for FIX is now available on the MuleForge, the
industry's most comprehensive hub for integration transports and adapters.
The FIX transport is a community contribution from MuleSource partner Ricston.
FIX is a public domain protocol aimed at real-time electronic exchange of
securities transactions in the Financial Services industry, and is
considered to be a standard protocol for pre-trade communications and trade
execution. The Mule FIX transport is based on QuickFIX/J -- a full featured
messaging engine for the FIX protocol that is a 100% Java open source
implementation of the popular C++ QuickFIX engine. This transport allows
users to read and write messages over FIX endpoints and have Mule ESB
route, transform and filter messages accordingly.
"With so many leading financial institutions using both the Mule ESB and
the widely adopted FIX protocol, it became clear that a FIX transport would
be hugely valuable to the Mule community," said Peter Delia, Ricston CEO.
"We are excited to contribute to the community and are looking forward to
receiving feedback on this early stage project."
The MuleForge is the platform for hosting extensions to Mule. It provides a
place for the Mule community to develop and share reusable Mule extensions
such as transports, modules, tools and examples. Other notable MuleForge
contributions include connectors for SalesForce.com, Amazon SQS, and Abdera for REST
integration.
"This new FIX transport contribution demonstrates the power of the open
source model for the integration and ESB space," said Ross Mason, CTO of
MuleSource. "With the thriving MuleForge, Mule ESB is able to leverage the
power of distributed, community-driven innovation."
Installing the Mule FIX transport entails simply extracting a set of
archived files over an existing Mule 2.2 installation. The package comes
with two pre-configured examples to help developers get up and running
quickly. For more information on how to use this transport, to contribute
to the transport, or to provide feedback, visit

Ricston developer and author of the FIX transport.
