ACWA Statement on Confirmation of David Hayes as Deputy Interior Secretary

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - May 21, 2009) - ACWA Executive Director Timothy Quinn issued
the following statement today on the confirmation of David Hayes as Deputy
Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior:
"ACWA applauds the action by the Senate yesterday to confirm David Hayes as
Deputy Secretary of Interior.
"We all know that California's water system is in crisis. Key to any
solution is a strong continued partnership between California and the
federal government. David Hayes is an ideal person for this job. He
understands California water and can hit the ground running, which is
exactly what we need in California."
Hayes served as deputy interior secretary in the last three years of the
Clinton administration. He led the Obama Administration's natural resources
transition team.
ACWA is a statewide association of public agencies whose 450 members are
