JACKSONVILLE, FL--(Marketwire - June 1, 2009) - Cliqset
today announced that it has secured $1.5 million in angel funding to
further drive growth and innovation of its company and platform, which
offers both developers and users new ways to create, organize and share
social information on the Web, desktop and mobile environments.
With its first beta launch in March 2009, Cliqset unveiled its back-end
platform of rich social APIs for developers to be able to build the most
unique social applications and gave users an opportunity to share their
social data across social networks and services. Today, the company
announced the launch of its second beta, offering push/pull third-party
integrations and location-aware APIs, as well as a developer challenge
consisting of $30,000 in prizes to inspire creativity in application design
and enhance user experience on the platform.
"Cliqset's platform is helping to stitch together the social Web by
creating a more social, open and user-centric experience for users and
developers," said Darren Bounds, co-founder and president, Cliqset. "By
embracing Open Web standards and creating a platform that helps developers
build any sort of social application for the Web, desktop and mobile
devices, we want to create the most vibrant, open platform for social
applications and users."
Angel funding was provided by Derek Mercer, an entrepreneur and investor
who serves on the boards of several companies including Cliqset and several
other fast-growing enterprises across a variety of industries. Previously,
Mercer was the chairman and CEO of Vurv Technology, a global provider of
on-demand talent management software that he founded in 1996 and led
through its growth to over $50 million in annual revenue, delivering
software to more than 350 enterprise clients and nearly 2,000 small and
medium businesses. Throughout his tenure at the company, Mercer was
responsible for the development of eight commercially available software
products. Vurv was acquired by Taleo in 2008 for about $128.8 million.
