DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - June 2, 2009) - Gravity Investments, a premier financial
engineering firm servicing professional investors with diversification
measurement, visualization, and optimization technologies, including the
Gsphere visual asset allocation platform, has been awarded a patent for its
portfolio visualization process.
Gravity's patent -- Creating a Visual Representation of a Portfolio -- was
originally filed in August of 2002. U.S. patent number 7,472,084 covers
many forms of portfolio visualization.
Gsphere, Gravity's three-dimensional diversification platform, is an
optimization and analytic suite that bridges advanced optimization with
sales and marketing accents. Central to the award is the notion of what
Gravity calls "holistic portfolio visualization."
"This invention represents a substantial advancement in portfolio
analysis," said James Damschroder, Founder of Gravity Investments and
inventor of the Gsphere process. "The three-dimensional projection of a
portfolio allows any investor seeking to create a balanced portfolio to
analyze the interrelationships of portfolio holdings in a way never before
possible."
Typically, investment portfolio holdings, or entire portfolios, are viewed
as a single dot showing its relative attributes juxtaposed against other
assets or portfolios. Gsphere's three-dimensional image displays the
diversification of the portfolio by transforming the notion of portfolio
balance and displaying that balance as symmetry. The end result is the
industry's first truly holistic portfolio representation of
diversification.
Gravity's innovative approach will benefit virtually every sponsor of
investment product, including insurance companies, pension plans, bank
trust groups, 401(k) providers, mutual fund companies, foundations, and
endowments.
"The essence of superior portfolio building is first-rate asset allocation,
and the essence of asset allocation is diversification," says Damschroder.
"Our challenge is to teach people about diversification all over
again...and about TRUE DIVERSIFICATION™ for the very first time."
The patent represents the first of many sought by Gravity Investments. A
new application creating a stir in institutional circles is based on a
method to measure portfolio diversification as an independent portfolio
trait.
