The Junior League of Orange County Names Kathryn Grant President; Announces New Board of Directors


NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., July 20, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Junior League of Orange County, Calif., Inc., (JLOCC), an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and the leadership of trained volunteers, has named Kathryn Grant president of the League and announced the members of its 2009-2010 board of directors.

Additional members of the 2009-2010 JLOCC board of directors include Linda Ruben (Sustainer Representative) of Laguna Hills, Valerie Hannah (Vice President) of Anaheim Hills, Denise Scott (President-Elect) of Santa Ana, Carla Dillon (Secretary) of Costa Mesa, Sandra Thompson (Treasurer) of Foothill Ranch, Shiao-Wen Huang (Communications Director) of Huntington Beach, Molly Taylor Jolly (Projects Director) of Anaheim, Sarah Dressler (Community Director) of Santa Ana, Nicole Tardi (Fund Development Director) of Aliso Viejo, Kristen Scheithauer (Membership Director) of Irvine, and Karen Warren (Training Director) of Laguna Niguel. Andrea Poltorak of Lake Forest serves as Board Assistant.

Funds raised annually by the JLOCC directly impact the community through collaborative projects with partner organizations and support JLOCC's mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community. This year's projects include the Kinship Project and Bridges to Higher Education, two programs offered through Orangewood Children's Foundation; Higher Education Mentoring Program (in partnership with the Orange County Bar Foundation); Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Emancipated Youth Program; and Bear Hugs, a JLOCC project supporting emancipated teens in Orange County.
