McCarter & English Continues to Expand in New York With the Hiring of Harley Lewin

NEW YORK, Aug. 10, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- McCarter & English announced today that Harley Lewin has joined the firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property and Information Technology practice group in the New York office. He focuses his practice on the development and implementation of global brand protection strategies.

"We are very pleased to welcome Harley to the firm," said William Heller, chair of the Intellectual Property/Information Technology Practice at McCarter & English. "His skills in global anti-counterfeiting and his experience in the areas of trademarks, copyright and unfair competition will enhance our established and growing intellectual property practice and serve as a strong complement to the array of services we offer our clients."

Mr. Lewin has spent almost 40 years traveling around the world to protect the trademarks, designs and ideas of his clients and has concentrated on major case litigation in the United States dealing with trademarks, trade dress, copyright, anti-counterfeiting and similar issues. He comes to McCarter & English from Greenberg Traurig. "I'm proud of my time there; however, I felt the need for more flexibility especially in the area of fees and services," said Mr. Lewin. "I wanted to join a firm that was perhaps a bit more cutting edge for the world we now live in, and McCarter & English is that place."

Mr. Lewin earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin Law School and his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

McCarter & English, established more than 160 years ago, represents Fortune 500 and middle-market companies in their national, regional and local litigation and on important transactions.
