Presents... Women Behind the Music in Atlanta last week, ASCAP (the
American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) is pleased to
announce details of its upcoming events in Los Angeles and New York.
ASCAP Presents... Women Behind the Music is a new series of events produced
exclusively by the women of ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Team. The program is
designed to encourage and recognize women in the music creator community,
and features showcases and educational panels in Atlanta, Los Angeles and
New York.
The series kicked off in Atlanta on August 25th with a high-profile
showcase featuring dazzling performances by Grammy Award-winning songwriter
and the newest addition to Bravo's hit reality show, "The Real Housewives
of Atlanta," Kandi Burruss; Alja Jackson aka Jesse Jane
(Leftfield/Interscope Records); Krave (Upfront Megatainment); Mika Means
(Universal/Motown Records); and Brittany Street (Good ComPENy). The event
was co-hosted by DJ Traci Steele of 95.5 The Beat and Musiq Soulchild's
official DJ.

A showcase featuring live performances by soul and R&B singer-songwriter
Goapele (Skyblaze Recordings), R&B girl group Electrik Red (Def Jam
Recordings/Radio Killa Records), singer/songwriter/pianist Rachel Assil
(KonLive/Bu Vision), and "American Idol 7" contestant Asia'h (SodaPop
Music). The event will be co-hosted by DJ Kill Him aka Kim Hill (One Brave
Indian Records).

songwriting session hosted by 107.5 WBLS on-air personality Jasmine Sanders
("Middays with Jasmine"). This panel of hit songwriters will show how it's
done by creating an original song to music performed at the piano by a
special guest.
Donations will be accepted at these events for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
