Rovi's Technologies for a Simplified Entertainment Experience Showcased at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2009


DENVER, Oct. 28, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- During the Society of Cable Technology and Engineering (SCTE) Cable-Tec Expo 2009 this week, Rovi Corporation (Nasdaq:ROVI), in booth #16073, will showcase its suite of solutions for service providers, which are designed to simplify and enhance consumer discovery of new entertainment content.

Earlier this week, the company unveiled its roadmap for the Passport Guide, http://www.rovicorp.com/company/newscenter/pressreleases/1434_12875.htm with planned features that would provide consumers more options to access content from their service provider. In conjunction with these new features, Rovi also unveiled plans for a Remote Record capability for both Passport Guide and i-Guide. The Remote Record application would allow service operators to offer consumers the ability to set recordings on a digital video recorder (DVR) from any device that can connect to the internet and open a web browser. The solution includes a guide set top box (STB) application, hosted communications infrastructure and web-based listings application.

While at the Cable-Tec Expo, Rovi will also demonstrate the latest versions of the Passport Guide, i-Guide, a new design for the Passport Guide tru2way, interactive advertising and entertainment data solutions. The company will showcase the flexibility of its Passport Guide platform to integrate interactive applications on EBIF by demonstrating FourthWall Media's (formerly Biap) applications and TV Widgets.
