Bud Rebel Begins Talks for Distribution of New Chyna Layne Film

NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Budrebel Productions has begun talks with several major distributors for its debut feature film, All Screwed Up, starring Chyna Layne (Precious).

Executive Producer Bud Rebel describes the film as a family-friendly teen comedy about two high school teenagers -- an African-American girl (Layne) suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder and a Caucasian boy (Waldman), star of the high school basketball team -- who mysteriously take on each other's personalities after a close encounter with an unusual 'pet' the girl orders on the internet.

"We believe All Screwed Up has enormous potential for domestic and worldwide distribution," says Rebel. "It is a universally appealing comedy with a different perspective on teenage romance. We had a terrific reception when the film premiered at the first ever Friars Club Comedy Film Festival in September, and the general consensus was that it accurately depicts many of the trials and travails of those difficult teenage years."

Budrebel Productions is a New York-based independent film company that has entered the film market to offer family oriented productions for the domestic and international audience. The production company believes it can produce films on a modest budget and gain distribution through their wide ranging appeal.

"Family oriented films have incredible shelf life," says Rebel. "You can think of so many of them that are revived on holidays or special occasions, year after year. We are also lucky to have Chyna Layne starring in our first feature film. She is a great talent and will be a major star."

Layne is currently appearing in Lionsgate's smash hit film Precious, directed by Lee Daniels. The film is garnering major Oscar buzz and was ranked number 4 at the box office last week despite playing in only a handful of theaters nationwide. She will also appear in the soon-to-be released The Eddie Black Story and several other films.

"She is incredibly gifted, and working with her has been an absolute pleasure," Rebel added. "We hope to work with her again in the future."
