BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - December 2, 2009) - Chautauqua Capital Management (Chautauqua), a
premier provider of insightful, focused, and time-tested investment
strategies, today announced the offering of the firm's International Growth
and Global Growth Equity products to qualified investors.
Boulder-based Chautauqua was formed earlier this year by a group of
investment professionals, many of whom had worked at Trust Company of the
West (TCW). Principals include Brian Beitner, CFA, Martha Avery, Michael
Mow, CFA, and Amanda Prentiss.
The firm's investment results date back to the beginning of 2006 when the
original international equity portfolios were constructed and funded.
According to eASE Analytics Evestment ALLIANCE, Chautauqua Capital
International Growth is the Number One-ranked fund from its inception
nearly four years ago for absolute return and alpha in its International
Equity peer group.
"Our investment approach is the global application of a domestic equity
approach that's been around for more than twenty years," said Mr. Beitner,
who formed Chautauqua Capital Management at the beginning of this year.
"Together with our organizational structure, that investment process
provides a strong competitive advantage for the firm and its portfolios."
Each member of the professional staff at Chautauqua is an owner of the
firm. Mr. Beitner, Chautauqua's founder, previously managed international
and global equity portfolios at TCW. He holds an MBA from USC and received
his CFA charter in 1989.
Mr. Mow, who spent seven years at TCW as an equity analyst, was most
recently at American Century Investments where he served on Ultra, a large
cap growth fund and the company's flagship product. He has been a CFA
charter holder since 1989. Ms. Prentiss worked as a strategist/economist
for TCW, producing a market overview publication for institutional
investors. Prior to that she worked for Goldman Sachs in London and
Frankfurt.
Ms. Avery has spent more than twenty years working in Asia. With a
background in Asian languages and an MBA from the Wharton School of
Finance, she has worked in the fields of publishing, intellectual property,
and corporate communications. She most recently served as
Co-Editor-in-Chief as well as translator for "China's Emerging Financial
Markets," a major book on China's financial industry.
The team has produced its superior investment results through the
construction of concentrated -- usually 25 to 35 holdings -- and
conviction-weighted portfolios of leading companies drawn from a worldwide
opportunity set. All Chautauqua holdings possess sustainable competitive
advantages and are long-term trend beneficiaries. "We call it
'diversification without dilution,'" says Beitner, "and it takes a good
degree of skill to execute the strategy. With an average 24 years of
experience and a complete focus on global markets, our team is confidently
investing right alongside its clients."
The firm plans to accept retail or institutional accounts beginning at $25
million.
