Boyd Group International Holding Interactive Air Service Planning Workshop to Address Falling Traffic, Shrinking Airlines, New Airline Strategies

EVERGREEN, Colo., Dec. 15, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Reflecting the enormous challenges facing airports in building access to the air transportation system, Boyd Group International is holding the first data-interactive Analytical Firepower(TM) Workshop in Denver January 19 - 20.

"In 2010, airports face unprecedented challenges. Enplanements will decline another 3.2%, according to our forecasts," stated Michael J. Boyd, president. "U.S. passenger fleets will shed another 230 jets. Airlines will be concentrating on redeploying assets, and airports with the most accurate market intelligence in terms of passenger demand, fare trends, airline strategies and other key data will have the advantage in keeping and building air service."

A Work Session. Not A Data Lecture. At the Analytical Firepower(TM) Workshop, participants won't be lectured about data sources available to them. Instead, they'll be accessing and analyzing those sources, on-line and live, for their own specific airport. The result will launch and guide the airports' 2010 air service planning with real data and market intelligence.

First: Strategic Overview of 2010 -- Down To The Local Level. The Analytical Firepower(TM) Workshop will outline air service challenges airports are facing. Airline-by-airline trends and strategies will be reviewed, and put into national, and -- for the attendee airports -- local context. Changes in fleets, hub mix, competitive tactics, and -- unique to this workshop -- global alliance relationships will be reviewed and translated for each airport into the challenges and opportunities for 2010 and beyond.

Next: Hands-On Analysis & Market Data. Participants will log-on to Airports:USA(R) DataMiner, and analyze their own airport's data -- O&D, fares, yields, market shares, and hundreds of tailored analytical reports. Boyd Group professionals will identify how to review airline performance, sector profitability, market share and identify where new airline strategies represent strengths and weaknesses that must be addressed.

Result: A Focused Air Service Plan. Each participant will create its own Air Service Action Plan, using current and historical data for their own airport. For further analysis, the downloaded data and reports will be retained on a workshop-supplied data stick. Unique to this workshop, Boyd Group International will provide each participant airport with an independent 5-year enplanement and trend forecast, further outlining key issues that the airport will need to address in the coming year.

The Analytical Firepower(TM) Workshop will be at the Holiday Inn at Denver International Airport. It starts at 2:30PM on January 19, and wraps up the next day at 3:00PM. "This allows most participants to fly in, complete the workshop and get back home with just one night at Denver," Boyd noted.

Registration fees are $445 prior to December 23, and $495 thereafter. Current Airports:USA subscribers receive a discount, and additional attendees from the same airport are just $150. Each participant must bring their own wireless-equipped laptop. More information and on-line registration can be found at www.AviationPlanning.com.
