Poetry Book Welcomes Readers Into the Fascinating World of Horses -- Authors Mary Benson and Hedy Strauss Pay Homage to Equine Friends Through Poetry

KEESEVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 4, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lovers of horses and the outdoors will be in for a wonderful ride as Xlibris announces the release of Blue Mountain Rider, a beautiful collection of poems written by Mary Benson and Hedy Strauss. Dedicated to their equine friends and their caregivers, this fascinating collection will make readers laugh, cry, and forever stay in love with the wonderful world of horses.

With over sixty inspiring literary masterpieces, Blue Mountain Rider delves deep into the authors' endless fascination of the "horse world." It reflects the inexplicable charm and communication that have existed between humans and horses for thousands of years and as it continues through time.

Throughout the poems, readers are brought to mount up and explore the mountain trails as the authors hop into a magic sleigh on a country lane, capture the exciting world of thoroughbred racing from a ringside seat, and experience the joy and often sadness that life with horses entails. Creatively written, this anthology explores the authors' deepest emotions, ambitions, desires, hopes, fears, and dreams.

Gleaned from real-life experiences, keen observations, and valuable knowledge acquired over a lifetime by both authors, Blue Mountain Rider illustrates the love and respect for an animal that has earned its way into the structure of man's life-a theme that will grow in the minds and hearts of the readers. About the Authors

Combining their love of horses and the outdoors, both Mary Benson, a physical and health education specialist, and Hedy Strauss, a graduate in animal behavior, immigrated to the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York where they met. They discovered that besides being avid trail riders, they each had a penchant for writing poetry. This resulted in the decision to share poetically their wide range of equine experiences.Whether it is preserving the wild mustangs' heritage or saving horses from slaughter, both women are passionate advocates for animal welfare.
