Independence Holding Company Acquires Stop-Loss Managing General Underwriter and Interest in Medical Management, Cost Containment and Auditing Companies


STAMFORD, Conn., Jan. 5, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Independence Holding Company (NYSE:IHC) today announced that it has acquired the assets of a managing general underwriter that controls approximately $30 million of employer medical stop-loss business. In addition, IHC Health Holdings Corp. acquired a majority of the stock of a company that provides utilization review and medical management services to fully insured and self-funded health plans and a hospital bill review company.
