Integrity Media: Follow the Bus

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 3, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A shiny new video from the Port of Los Angeles released last week extolled the benefits of Vision Industries (OTCBB:VIIC) Tyrano zero-emission truck, showcasing the virtues of the vehicle and the benefits for the port and the environment. It was clear from the piece that the port has to an extent become a brotherly marketing partner that wants these vehicles to succeed in its venue.

For some environmental watchers of previous California government initiatives, the process may seem familiar. For investors of Vision Industries, it may be wise to follow the tire tracks of California buses.

Recently, California enacted the Zero-Emission Bus (ZBus) regulation designed to encourage the operation and use of zero-emission buses in California urban bus fleets. The ZBus Regulation is part of the Fleet Rule for Transit Agencies, which is also referred to as the Public Transit Agencies Regulation and requires a percentage of buses in a fleet to be ‘zero-emission’ based on the number of overall buses. This is a mandate with a short timetable for adoption by fleet operators.

What’s interesting to note is the relative speed with which this occurred and the clear motivation displayed by California. In a political environment where politicians often spew hot air to the public about getting healthier, California has instead required cleaner air.

This sentiment dovetails into the Port of Los Angeles video of last week in which the narrator declares that the busy shipping venue believes that zero emission vehicles “will be necessary in coming years in order to contribute to achieving the goals for the transportation and port sectors under California’s AB32 greenhouse gas reduction legislation and the City’s GreenLA initiative. This has led the Port to begin planning for a transition to zero emission vehicles over the next decade.”

If California follows the form it displayed with cleaner buses, it is not a stretch to believe that future mandates for cleaner trucks in the ports- and perhaps California roads at large- could be seen somewhere in the not-so-distant future.

For followers of Vision Industries vehicles, which takes front stage in the port’s own promotional video, the present and future look increasingly brighter... even following the path of ever-cleaner California buses.
