Vook Re-Imagines Alice in Wonderland

Announces New Digital Series of Children's Vooks

ALAMEDA, CA--(Marketwire - March 4, 2010) -  Vook, the company that pioneered the integration of text and video into an innovative new mixed media experience, today announced the release of its newest vook, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," as well as a new series of children's vooks.

First written in 1865, the "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" vook blends Lewis Carroll's original story with illustrations, videos and web links to fully immerse readers in Alice's journey in the fantasy world. The vook also includes a video tour of where Carroll lived and wrote "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," as well as details around his inspiration for Alice and the many other characters he created for this timeless story.

Broadening its reach to readers of all ages, today Vook also announced a new series of children's vooks. "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," by filmmaker Emma Heald, is the first vook in this library devoted entirely to children's titles and builds on a growing, diverse group of genres and subjects Vook has produced, including vooks from bestselling writers Anne Rice and Seth Godin. Vook will continue to rapidly expand its library and content categories throughout 2010.

"Our series of vooks for children is going to be an amazing medium to provide classic literature to today's digitally-savvy kids and provide a new way for parents and their children to share these stories," said Bradley Inman, CEO and founder of Vook. "Vook is uniquely positioned to share stories and content -- no matter the genre -- in a much richer, interactive fashion than ever before, and to deliver this content on the mobile devices or browsers that people are already regularly using."

"As a filmmaker, it's exhilarating to be able to bring this classic story to so many new distribution channels through Vook," said Emma Heald, filmmaker for the "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" vook. "With such multifaceted characters and a thoughtful plot, 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' was the perfect opportunity for Vook to enhance such a transcendent fairytale and explore Carroll's work one step further than ever before."

In addition to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," select titles from the children's series include "The Frog Prince: Stories from Around the World," "Jack and the Beanstalk" and two volumes of "Grimm's Fairy Tales," which consist of ten of the most well-known stories such as "Rapunzel," "Sleeping Beauty," "Snow White," "Red Riding Hood" and "Rumpelstiltskin."

A vook is a mixed-media form that blends video, text, images and social streams into a single, integrated experience. Since the company's formal launch in the fall of 2009, Vook has experienced impressive momentum, forming strategic publishing relationships with Simon & Schuster, HarperStudio, Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. and Janklow & Nesbit Associates. The company also recently announced an exclusive partnership with online video experts TurnHere, as well as its MotherVook digital publishing tool, which will ultimately allow Vook to publish hundreds of titles each week.
