Rite Aid Corp. (RAD) is a retail drugstore chain in the United States. The Company operates its drugstores in 31 states across the country and in the District of Columbia. As of February 28, 2009, it operated 4,901 stores. In its stores, the Company sells prescription drugs and an assortment of other merchandise, which it calls front-end products.

In the report, the analyst notes:
"Revenues for the 13-week fourth quarter were $6.5 billion versus revenues of $6.7 billion in the prior year fourth quarter. Revenues decreased 3.6%, primarily as a result of store closings and a decline in same store sales.
"For the four weeks ended March 27, 2010, same store sales decreased 0.1% over the prior-year period. Front-end same stores sales increased 1.8%, positively impacted by an earlier Easter (April 4, 2010, versus April 12, 2009). Pharmacy same store sales, which included an approximate 189 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, declined 1.0%. Prescriptions filled at comparable stores decreased 1.3% over the prior-year period."
