Northern Arizona University Selects TeamDynamixHE for Project Management

University's Selection Driven by Peer Recommendations and TeamDynamixHE's Focus on Higher Education

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - April 27, 2010) -  TeamDynamixHE, the leading provider of project and portfolio management software (PPM) for the higher education industry, today announced that Northern Arizona University (NAU) has selected TeamDynamixHE as its PPM software provider. TeamDynamixHE is an enterprise-class, Web-based solution that allows the university's IT staff to use a single application to manage project requests, prioritize and score all potential projects, and streamline the project startup and staffing process. Founded in 1899, NAU has more than 25,000 students spread across 40 sites throughout Arizona.

Prior to selecting TeamDynamixHE, the university did not have a standardized process for managing and tracking projects. Some IT staff had experimented with MS Project linked with SharePoint without much success. The university wanted an intuitive, hosted PPM solution that allows the IT department to manage all projects from a centralized location and provide administrators visibility into current projects. The school is currently using TeamDynamixHE for a paperless project and an e-planning initiative. The initiative is directly related to the school's high-touch focus, allowing students to select what programs they want to follow, which then produces a list of courses that are available. Based upon the selections, the university can then determine how many courses, classrooms and teachers will be needed to satisfy the demand.

"While the university has been somewhat successful at managing projects without a centralized system and a true understanding of portfolio planning, our growth and footprint did not give us much confidence that we could continue down the same path," said Patrick Benson, Director of Administrative Computing with NAU. "We needed a new process, and the fact that TeamDynamixHE is focused on higher education was a significant factor in our decision. The higher education community is very collaborative and, well, collegial, so if Ohio State or UNLV says they use this system and it works, I believe them. These references convinced us that TeamDynamixHE could help us do PPM faster and cheaper so that we can focus on other things. I believe them."

Benson added, "Recently, I asked a project manager at a large school what were project management costs for a large project at their university. He did not know and could only tell me the original estimate. In reality, that project ended up costing much more because PM costs were not taken into consideration. We don't want to have to hire several people to come up with a cost analysis for every project. For NAU, we can now go into TeamDynamixHE, click a button, and I can tell the administration every hour and dollar spent on any given project. And it is not costing us an arm and a leg to do."

"Our focus is on providing higher education institutions with a PPM tool that they immediately recognize is built for them and for their unique environments," said Andrew Graf, lead analyst for TeamDynamixHE. "We continue to infuse our solution with the insights and requests of industry experts across the country, enhanced by our TeamDynamixHE Advisory Council, a group of higher education IT leaders that drive project planning and development. The knowledge we gain and incorporate into our solution from our ongoing interaction with these industry professionals is a key differentiator that separates us from traditional corporate enterprise solutions. We appreciate NAU's confidence in our solution, and look forward to working with them as they further expand the use of TeamDynamixHE across campus."
