Chandler Goes Solar With First Solar Town Hall Meeting

CHANDLER, AZ--(Marketwire - April 28, 2010) -   Chandler residents are invited to attend Chandler's first Solar Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the Tumbleweed Recreation Center's Cotton Room, located at 745 E. Germann Rd., Chandler, AZ 85286.

This free event is presented by the Arizona Solar Power Society and will include panel discussions and exhibits showcasing energy efficiency, solar hot water and solar power products and services offered by several local companies.

"The purpose of the Chandler Solar Town Hall Meeting is to educate residents and businesses in Chandler on the benefits of harnessing solar power and teach them how to make smart purchasing decisions," said Chandler City Planner and Green Building Coordinator, Jason Crampton.

Chandler will be hosting panel discussions featuring experts on solar power and water heating systems, energy efficiency, and federal and state tax credit and rebate programs that can help Chandler residents pay for equipment and installation costs.

Each of the four panels will feature 10-minute presentations on various solar energy systems and the potential cost savings they offer to residents. Each presentation will be followed by a question and answer session that will allow residents to ask questions.

Residents are also encouraged to bring a copy of their electric bill to the meeting and get free quotes from vendors on how much it would cost for their household to "Go Solar," including any available rebates, tax credits and grants that could offset some of the costs.

Chandler's Green Building Program, adopted by Mayor and Council in June 2008, called for providing Chandler residents with resources and education to help them make their homes more sustainable.
