CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - May 4, 2010) - On May 10, the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge will present a keynote address by Barry Briggs, chief architect and chief technology officer for Microsoft's IT organization. Briggs' 27-year career in the software industry includes senior executive positions at a number of successful software companies, including 11 years at Lotus/IBM. In his presentation, Briggs will discuss the next generation of enterprise computing, the grand challenges and tech trends, and the culture of participation that is imperative to harnessing the collective IQ in the context of the cloud.
Following the keynote, Doug Banks, publisher and editor-in-chief of Mass High Tech, will moderate a panel of experts on the topic of enterprise computing. The discussion will address the challenges of adapting, growing businesses, and pioneering in the cloud, and will feature Ellen Rubin, the founder and vice president of products at Cloudswitch, and David Skok, an expert on enterprise software and general partner at Matrix Partners.
Keynote Speaker
In his role as chief architect and CTO for Microsoft's IT organization, Barry Briggs is responsible for driving building and adopting master data management (MDM) and service oriented architecture (SOA) solutions for the company. Previously, Briggs served as senior architect in the business process and integration division at Microsoft where he helped set the technology strategy for the company's enterprise integration and business process product line. He is the author of numerous technical articles, two novels and the popular "Barry Talks!" blog.
Panelists
Ellen Rubin is the founder and VP of products at CloudSwitch. Prior to founding the company, Ellen was VP of marketing at Netezza and also founded Manna, an Israeli and Boston-based developer of real-time personalization software. Rubin began her career as a marketing strategy consultant at Booz, Allen & Hamilton.
David Skok joined Matrix Partners as a general partner from SilverStream Software, which he founded in 1996. In addition to his broad focus on enterprise software, Skok is specifically focused on the areas of cloud computing, open source, software-as-a-service (SaaS), marketing automation, virtualization, storage and data center automation. He writes a blog for entrepreneurs and startups on topics such as viral marketing, SaaS metrics, building a sales and marketing machine, and techniques for lowering the cost of customer acquisition. Skok also serves on the boards of Digium, CloudSwitch, Enservio, OpenSpan, Solidworks, VideoIQ and HubSpot.
Moderator
Doug Banks is publisher and editor of Mass High Tech, a journal of New England technology. He joined MHT as editor in 2005 and was named publisher in January 2010. Doug has taught journalism and writing at local colleges and universities, including Emerson College, Boston University and the University of Pittsburgh. He has been a guest lecturer at several other universities, including Boston College, MIT and Tufts University.
