Rand Schulman, Online Marketing Pioneer, Joins Eightfold Logic as Chief Marketing Officer

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - May 13, 2010) - Eightfold Logic, an inbound marketing innovator, today announced that Rand Schulman has joined its executive team as chief marketing officer. The company also announced today that it has officially changed its name to Eightfold Logic, from Enquisite.

Schulman is a pioneer in the online marketing and web analytics space, and a veteran senior technology executive with extensive experience building and growing technology companies. In the mid-1990s, Schulman helped create and establish the concept that deep analysis of website metrics are a key ingredient to marketing success. With fellow advocates, he co-founded and was an inaugural board director at the Web Analytics Association, which united web analytics professionals and best practices around measurement and strategy.

"Eightfold Logic's sweet spot is giving people the insight into how their online marketing efforts are performing through metrics," said Mark Hoffman, CEO. "Rand helped create the web-wide ethos of marketing measurement, which has rapidly become a core building block of any successful marketing effort over the past decade. Rand's insight, experience and originality adds tremendous value to our team and customers as we create the innovations that will shape the next ten years of online marketing."

Schulman has also served as CMO at InsideView; CMO at WebSideStory (acquired by Omniture); and was founder and CEO of one of the first SaaS companies, Keylime Software (acquired by Yahoo!). Prior to Keylime Software, Schulman was a senior executive at WebTrends and Unica. He is also a founder and principal of Schulman + Thorogood Group, a business strategy consulting practice advising new media companies.

"I'm pleased to be working with an industry legend like Mark Hoffman to help reinvent and re-imagine online marketing," said Schulman. "Eightfold Logic has strong roots and success in the SEO world, and our mission is to build on this expertise and take on the exciting market opportunity of making inbound marketing a cornerstone of online marketing. As a student and practitioner of marketing for the past 25 years, I know that today's marketers are facing more confusion and more complicated choices than ever before. The mission of Eightfold Logic is to bring clarity to marketing, simplify the marketer's life, while ultimately making their efforts exponentially more successful."

Currently, Schulman sits on the boards of directors or advises Technology Leaders, a web analytic consulting company; Viralheat, a social media analytics company; and Motally, a mobile analytics company. He was named one of the top 100 B2B marketing executives by BtoB Magazine in 2005.

At this year's South by Southwest Interactive conference, he addressed the question, "Is too much math killing marketing?" In this hotly debated topic given the ubiquitous presence of measurement and analytics, his position was a definitive 'no.'

"Math and measurement are the key ingredients to any sound marketing strategy. Without it, it's all just someone guessing about what works," Schulman added.
