Sompo Deploys WebWriter Solution From ISI for Marine Cargo

TORONTO--(Marketwire - June 1, 2010) -  Sompo Japan Insurance Company of America (Sompo) and Insurance Systems Inc. (ISI) today announced that Sompo has successfully deployed ISI's WebWriter solution as its new platform for marine cargo certificates, underwriting automation and rating.

Sompo selected ISI's WebWriter solution in August of 2009 and the implementation, branded internally as "Sompo C-Port," was completed in less than six months from initiation to deployment. This accelerated implementation timeline for the solution can be attributed to ISI's in-depth expertise in the marine insurance arena combined with an extremely configurable product offering which today allows Sompo underwriters, brokers and policyholders to transact marine cargo business over the Internet.

"We are very excited about this partnership with Sompo," said David Hanley, vice president of business development and operations for ISI. "Sompo is an extremely customer-driven company and we believe the ISI solution will allow them to provide even stronger service in this niche offering."

"ISI's WebWriter solution allows us to offer the level of service on our marine book of business that Sompo is known for," said Phyllis Drivas, Ocean Marine Underwriting Manager. "Working with ISI throughout the project, it became apparent that they not only have sound technical knowhow, but also an insight into how we can improve our business through the effective use of the technology."

ISI's WebWriter platform is a fully-integrated browser-based solution to run all aspects of a property/casualty insurance operation, including additional modules to support the specific needs of marine insurers.
