IASA Announces Inaugural Collegiate Scholarship Recipients


DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - June 3, 2010) -  Earlier this year, IASA announced the association's new Insurance Industry Collegiate Scholarship program. The scholarship program is targeted to aid students at the sophomore level or above who are enrolled in a university with an insurance program and whose course of study includes working toward a degree in Information Technology, Actuarial Science, Accounting or Risk Management. 

Each year, IASA will award up to three $2,000 scholarships. This year, IASA is pleased to announce the recipients of the association's scholarships are:

  • Gabriel Cossio, University of South Carolina
    • Pursuing a degree in Risk Management / Entrepreneurial Management
  • Joey Li, St. Thomas University
    • Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science
  • Aaron Schneider, Northwood University
    • Pursuing a dual degree in Accounting and Management

"Supporting the education of talented and worthy students is at the heart of what IASA is all about," said Joe Pomilia, IASA Executive Director. "We were overwhelmed by the talent of the student submissions for the scholarship and their achievements so far in pursuing a career in insurance. Our three recipients have proven to be dedicated not only to academic excellence, but to the betterment of themselves, their campuses and communities through service and leadership."

This year's winners will be recognized during the 2010 IASA Annual Educational Conference and Business Show, June 6-9th, in Grapevine, Texas.
