SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - June 8, 2010) - The Excellence in Investing for Children's Causes Foundation and the Ira Sohn Research Conference Foundation together recently announced the formation of Excellence in Investing: San Francisco, a new financial conference to take place annually in San Francisco. The new conference is founded in partnership with the celebrated Ira Sohn Investment Research Conference, held annually in New York City. The inaugural San Francisco conference will take place Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center.
The Excellence in Investing for Children's Causes Foundation announced its new event at the sold-out 15th Annual Ira Sohn Investment Research Conference on May 26, 2010 in New York. Excellence in Investing: San Francisco is modeled after and run in partnership with the highly popular New York Ira Sohn Conference.
Excellence in Investing: San Francisco will feature a speaking roster composed of top investors and other esteemed financial thinkers to present investing insights. The event will also include the auction of a rare first edition of Benjamin Graham's The Intelligent Investor, signed by legendary investor Warren Buffett, with profits to benefit the causes supported by the Excellence in Investing for Children's Causes Foundation.
Inspired by the Ira Sohn Investment Research Conference's charitable basis, through which all proceeds benefit organizations that combat pediatric cancer, profits from the West Coast conference will support local education organizations. Primary beneficiaries will include Leadership Public Schools (LPS), which manages a network of public charter high schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to organizations that combat pediatric cancer, in partnership with the Ira Sohn Research Conference Foundation, which to date has raised approximately $20 million for those causes.
