Six Information Builders Customers Recognized as Laureates by the Computerworld Honors Program

Global Information Technology Awards Foundation Acknowledged Companies for Innovative and Beneficial Use of Business Intelligence

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - June 11, 2010) -   Information Builders, the independent leader in operational business intelligence (BI) systems today announced that six of its customers have been named Laureates by the Computerworld Honors Program as a result of their visionary use of BI technology. The Information Builders customers span private and public organizations across several industries and include ASM Research Inc., Dealer Services Corporation, Food For The Poor, Dialysis Clinic, Inc., the Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Rural Servicios Informaticos.

Each year, members of the Chairmen's Committee, a group of 100 chairmen and CEOs of global technology companies, nominate individuals and organizations around the world whose innovative use and application of information technology promotes positive social and economic progress. The honorees incorporated Information Builders BI technology to gain much-needed insight into critical business data, enhancing internal operations, products, and services.

"We are thrilled that six of our customers have been recognized for this prestigious program," said Gerald Cohen, founder and CEO of Information Builders. "The common factor shared among these companies is the successful integration of BI technology solutions that gave employees valuable insight into business data. With the ability to access and analyze this information in real time, organizations are able to make data-based decisions and best drive innovation."

This year's honorees were commemorated during the 22nd Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards Evening on June 7, 2010 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

  • ASM Research, Inc. -- With Information Builders' BI platform, ASM integrated Information Builders' BI technology and launched a pervasive BI application that now manages the performance and resource requirements of all resident training programs within the U.S. Army and other services, including the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Marines, and other federal agencies. The Web-based environment tracks the training of three million graduates and includes critical information around training programs, schedules, enrollment, and all relevant certifications and credentials awarded. The data is available to approximately 28,000 Army leaders who rely on the BI reporting system to efficiently train military personnel.
  • Dealer Services Corporation (DSC) -- Many automotive dealers were significantly challenged by the economic downturn and relied on DSC's valuable insight into future trends and patterns. Using a predictive BI system, DSC helped many automotive dealers finance their used car inventories by predicting each dealer's future financing needs and providing real-time updates on excess inventory. With immediate access to critical business data, DSC saw the automotive downturn coming well in advance, giving managers time to adjust financial reserves, tighten lending standards, and scrutinize each dealer's inventory to minimize risk to both Dealer Services and its customers.
  • Food For The Poor (FFTP) -- This nonprofit organization leveraged BI technology powered by Information Builders to ensure more than 96 percent of all donations were going directly to programs that helped the poor. With a new BI platform in place, executives were able to obtain critical data in real time that monitored the progress of financial information month over month and year over year. FFTP employees could quickly run reports that analyzed business data such as fundraising appeal information, history, goals, achievements, and targets. Immediate access to such information allowed FFTP to identify areas to reduce its total operating budget, better allocate resources, and invest more money in the cause.
  • Dialysis Clinic (DCI) -- Faced with the challenge of improving internal operations and control costs, DCI integrated Information Builders' BI software to improve the management of financial reporting activities. Previously, business users endured the tedious task of pulling information from disparate systems to make decisions or create consolidated reports. Like many other clinics in the U.S., DCI must comply with many types of government reporting and reimbursement requirements. With the integration of a new BI environment, DCI employees now use parameter-driven input fields and can choose columns as well as sort criteria, measures, and output formats to generate customized reports that meet varying business requirements. DCI now plans to extend end-user reporting capabilities to its 260 clinics across the U.S. to enhance its quality management efforts and deliver better care to patients.
  • Mount Sinai Medical Center -- As one of the oldest, largest, and most respected voluntary hospitals, the Mount Sinai Medical Center wanted to enhance patient care while adhering to institution-wide cost and performance standards. Mount Sinai worked with Information Builders to produce a BI environment that helped authorized physicians use reporting dashboards to quickly identify problematic trends and patterns. For example, these dashboards enable physicians to run their practices more productively as well as set goals and monitor progress on a month-to-month basis. The hospital was also able to identify more than $5 million in missed charges and re-bill for them, receiving $3 million in a single year from insurers who underpaid patient bills. With insight into valuable business data, Mount Sinai found critical areas to save costs and ensure their patients were receiving optimal care.
  • Rural Servicios Informaticos (RSI) -- RSI incorporated Information Builders' WebFOCUS BI platform to enhance functionality of the Information Center application and better serve its customers. The system supported users across a network that comprised more than 3,500 commercial offices. Providing a solution that could be tailored not only by each location, but also each user, was crucial. With the new BI platform in place, RSI customers are able to generate thorough reports that provide a comprehensive analysis of requested data and are unique to the business needs of each user.
