MoCA Adds Kawasaki Microelectronics as Associate Member

SAN RAMON, Calif., Sept. 30, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kawasaki Microelectronics Inc. (K-Micro), a leader in advanced ASICs, has joined MoCA®, the worldwide standard for home entertainment networking, as an Associate level member.

K-micro is a strong player in the fast-growing home networking market, offering both standard and semi-custom analog front-end (AFE) chips to device manufacturers.

MoCA is the only home entertainment networking standard in mass deployment by all three pay TV segments—cable, satellite and telco/IPTV.

"We joined MoCA because we are committed to providing our customers with advanced SoCs for home networking applications using existing coaxial wiring," said Joel Silverman, vice president at K-micro. "MoCA is the dominant home networking standard in the US, so becoming an Associate level member was an easy decision to make."

"As a developer of chips for the home networking market, K-micro is an ideal recruit for MoCA," said Charles Cerino, MoCA president. "By integrating MoCA technology onto their chipsets, K-Micro can help service providers to benefit from the growing demand for IP-based entertainment throughout the home, with unrivalled Quality of Service over existing coaxial wiring."
