Public Sector Adoption of Open Source Helps Nuxeo Achieve Record Quarter

Nuxeo CEO Eric Barroca to Speak at Government Open Source Conference GOSCON10

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - October 27, 2010) -  Nuxeo, the Open Source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) company, achieved record quarterly revenue results in Q3 2010 driven by large wins in public sector and financial services in Europe and North America. Among the significant new customer wins is the Solon 2 project -- an initiative with the Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information of the government of France to consolidate the management of laws and regulations and unify the legal publishing processes. Powered by Nuxeo Case Management Framework (Nuxeo CMF), the advanced case management routing and document review application will handle up to 500,000 cases per year.

This latest government win shows continued momentum in the adoption of open source in the Enterprise Content Management space. Previous successful projects in government with Nuxeo Enterprise Platform (Nuxeo EP) and related document and case management applications include: Ministry of Education, which adopted Nuxeo CMF to handle correspondence control across the school districts of France. Implemented to improve efficiency in the education system and allow school administrators to better respond to parental inquiries, the application facilitates better citizen-government engagement in line with open government principles.

Security and management of sensitive data was central to the selection of Nuxeo EP for case management with the Ministry of Justice. The "Messenger Project" in France sought to streamline the management of issues and correspondence across ministries, and ensure research and response times, all while diligently managing privacy issues. Full transparency into tasks and work performed by authorized Ministerial staff, inside the parameters of a granular access control model for electronic content, as well as flexible workflow and managed audit trails were requirements met by the Nuxeo platform.

Nuxeo CEO Eric Barroca will be speaking at the GOSCON10 conference, October 27-28 in Portland, Oregon on the topic of "Using Open Source to Create Efficiencies with Shared Application Development," tapping into his extensive experience with public sector content management deployments to share some of the practices that government agencies can use to share code and reduce overall application development costs, as well as take control over their own technology priorities.

VP and Distinguished Analyst Andrea di Maio of Gartner notes that "Open source has certainly gained its place in the portfolio of solutions that most government agencies utilize," and that "Government CIOs should consider program areas where joint development with peer agencies would be possible."*

Shared services, such as application development to solve common information and content management problems, can be solved once and shared with peer agencies, demonstrating consistency of process and better stewardship of tax dollars. Notes Barroca, "our government client successes have proven that open source development methods create an environment to exchange best practices, reuse good technology and identify common needs specific to unique complexities of public sector. Nuxeo sees tremendous continued growth potential in North America helping government agencies deliver the content management applications needed to improve and streamline service delivery to citizens and internal stakeholders."
