SPYRUS(R) Secure Pocket Drive(TM) Wins Homeland Security Award

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - November 10, 2010) - SPYRUS received a Homeland Security Award from Government Security News (GSN) in Washington, D.C. The SPYRUS Secure Pocket Drive, a patented, self-contained, bootable Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard operating environment on a high-security USB flash drive, was selected as the Best Endpoint Security Solution of 2010.

The award recognizes the outstanding people and companies who have introduced effective and cost-efficient security programs and innovative technologies that protect and defend the United States and its people. It is awarded by GSN, one of the leading news organizations focusing on government and homeland security.

Secure Pocket Drive is unique in that it does not rely on a virtual machine, a virtual workspace linked to a running host OS, or other solutions meant to work around the issues of putting Microsoft Windows onto a secure USB flash drive. Rather, it was designed to efficiently boot a native version of Windows Embedded Standard with strong cryptographic protection for the device, the operating system, and the user data.

Secure Pocket Drive is perfect for teleworking, Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC), continuity of operations (COOP), and everyday use by road warriors or war fighters. When booted on a host PC, Secure Pocket Drive disconnects the internal hard drive and all other storage. Personal and corporate software and information are completely isolated from each other, preventing accidental or intentional data leakage. Similarly, an infected PC cannot infect Secure Pocket Drive.

Secure Pocket Drive is available with Windows Embedded Standard 2009 (Windows XP) or Windows Embedded Standard 7 (Windows 7) pre-installed. Once provisioned within the organization, it is remotely managed and updated using the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Active Directory policy settings. The devices themselves are managed through the SPYRUS Enterprise Management System (SEMS), which allows remote disable or destruction of devices.
