PopSci.com Launches New Android App on The Zumobi Network

Leading Science and Technology News From Popular Science Now Available on Android

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - January 12, 2011) - The Zumobi Network, a leading premium mobile app network, and Popular Science magazine today announced the launch of the PopSci.com application on the Android platform. This free app, newly redesigned by Zumobi for the iPhone and iPod touch platforms, brings the PopSci.com science and technology news content in the same updated design to the Android platform. The PopSci.com app launches with the F-150 campaign from Ford Motor Company.

"Earlier this fall we partnered with Zumobi to update our current PopSci.com iPhone app design and to expand our monetization options," said Gregg Hano, VP, Group Publisher, Bonnier's Technology Group, including Popular Science. "Launching a version for Android allows us to deliver our valued news content to an expanded audience on a rapidly growing platform."

This new app's interface includes 'Featured' news articles at the top of the screen and allows users to scroll through thumbnails horizontally. Below, the 'News' section includes a list of all news articles that can be separated into four categories: 'Gear,' 'DIY,' 'Green,' and 'Photos.' The 'Gear,' 'DIY' and 'Green' sections include video and photo content along with the text of each article. The 'Photos' section includes a gallery of images and subhead descriptions. All of this content is easily shared using Facebook, Twitter and e-mail.

"The Zumobi Network currently has a very impressive and diverse portfolio of news media apps," said Ken Willner, CEO of Zumobi. "PopSci.com's incredibly loyal and savvy user base sees the value in the content that it provides. The launch of this app will support PopSci.com's engagement with a new audience and provide more opportunities for advertisers seeking to reach this very desirable demographic."

The PopSci.com app offers compelling sponsorship options through the guaranteed pairing of PopSci.com's trusted third party content with Zumobi's BrandBlast "app-within-an-app" rich media advertising technology. This primary network offering creates the ideal environment for premium advertisers who are seeking exclusivity, metrics transparency and brand safety.

The PopSci.com app is available for free in the Android Market as a part of The Zumobi Network, which offers a variety of entertaining, informative and useful mobile media applications to enjoy on next-generation smartphones across multiple platforms.
