The Linley Group Hosts Two-Day Data Center Conference

Focuses on Cloud Computing, Virtualization, and Next-Generation Data Center Architectures

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - January 14, 2011) - Focusing on the processors, components and interconnects driving data center networking and servers, The Linley Group today announced it will host the Linley Tech Data Center Conference on January 26-27 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, Calif. The single-track event targets network equipment vendors, server OEMs, system designers, network service providers, enterprise-network managers and software developers making decisions on technologies for the data center.

"We bring together industry leaders in data-center networking and provide a forum for unveiling the industry's latest product developments, as well as debating the most significant industry trends and challenges," said Jag Bolaria, senior analyst with The Linley Group. "Our single-track format ensures that attendees have the opportunity to attend every session, without missing any of the relevant information that matters to them. Then, we enable them to engage in important networking at our evening reception."

The conference will open with an overview of the market, technologies, equipment-design, and silicon trends impacting data-center equipment. The remainder of the program will include talks and panel discussions covering a broad range of topics including cloud architecture; 100GbE for backplane and interconnects; security and hardware accelerators; and 10GbE physical layer interconnect challenges.

A conference keynote by Dileep Bhandarkar, Distinguished Engineer, Global Foundation Services at Microsoft, entitled "Engineering Efficiency in Data Centers," will discuss optimization of large scale data centers for energy efficiency. Two special panels will also be hosted. "Future Directions in Data Center Equipment Design" will bring together industry experts from leading OEMs who will discuss the impact of data center trends on next-generation system designs. A second panel, "Power Efficient Server Processors," will feature panelists from Calxeda (formerly Smooth Stone), Intel, Marvell and Tilera to discuss how vendors are improving power efficiency and how these changes will affect system and software design.

Presenting companies include Applied Micro, Cavium Networks, Freescale, Fulcrum Microsystems, Inphi, LSI, Microsoft, NetLogic, Netronome, and Xilinx. There will also be a reception with sponsor exhibits and demonstrations where attendees will have an opportunity to see and discuss specific products and technology.

The Linley Group offers free attendance to qualified registrants who sign up by January 20. For more information on the conference program and to register, please visit http://www.linleygroup.com/Seminars/data_center_talks.html.
