Framingham, Massachusetts, UNITED STATES

FRAMINGHAM, MA--(Marketwire - February 18, 2011) - IDG's Computerworld, the IT media brand dedicated to providing peer perspective, IT leadership and business results, announces the 2011 Premier 100 IT Leaders honorees as well as their top priorities for the coming year. The awards program spotlights 100 leaders, from both the technology and business sides of companies, for their exceptional technology leadership, innovative solutions to business challenges and effective management of IT strategies.

The Premier 100 honorees and their achievements, as well as research conducted to better understand the common leadership traits among the honorees, will be highlighted in the February 21, 2011 issue of Computerworld, on and during the Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference, being held March 6-8, 2011, at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert, California.

"The Premier 100 awards program honors an elite group of IT executives," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "In the face of the economic turmoil that has meant budget cuts and staff downsizing for many, these 100 men and women continued to innovate and deliver measurable business value. They begin 2011 recharged and ready, positioning their departments and their businesses for speed and growth. We're pleased to honor their achievements of delivering strategic vision and seamless leadership through turbulent times."

In a questionnaire completed by the 2011 honorees, 51% of Premier 100 honorees said they have seen their annual IT budget increase in the past year. Honorees have also seen an increase in internal head count (40%) over the past year and 36% of honorees have increased their contractor head count. Additionally, honorees revealed they are investing in critical technologies in the next twelve months. The top technology priorities include:

1) Application software development/upgrades/replacements;
2) Data management/business analytics;
3) Virtualization;
4) Security;
5) Cloud computing.

"Premier 100 honorees are innovative leaders within their industries, and we are proud to have the 2011 honorees join the ranks of the more than 1,000 IT and business executives previously named to this elite group," said John Amato, publisher of Computerworld. "The 2011 honoree questionnaire highlights the accelerated convergence we're seeing between IT and business and IT's crucial role in driving value and sustainability in the enterprise. It's great to see budget and staff allocations stabilize and a focus on critical technologies that will receive priority funding."

About the Premier 100:
The Premier 100 was created in 2000 to spotlight individuals who have made a positive impact on their organization through their work in technology. These are individuals who manage internal IT organizations, mentor and motivate their IT teams and business colleagues, create a positive work environment, envision innovative solutions to business challenges and effectively manage and execute IT strategies. Each year nominees are invited to complete a survey that addresses a number of topics, including their background and experience and their attitude toward risk and innovation. Using Computerworld's IT Leader Index and using the data from the index, which is a measurement of how closely an individual matches our definition of the IT Leader, we analyze the data. Each year, 100 honorees are selected to receive this life time recognition award. Information on previous honorees can be viewed at:
