Chinese Intellectual Property Law Resources and Programs for IP Attorneys Offered at The John Marshall Law School

CHICAGO, Feb. 23, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Responding to the increasing globalization of intellectual property (IP) law, The John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 2009 established the Chinese Intellectual Property Resource Center, opening the window to the Chinese IP system for United States officials, judges, attorneys and students. The center was developed through a partnership with John Marshall's Chinese colleagues to meet the needs of American and Chinese business and legal communities by making available the latest Chinese IP law information.

Building on its nearly 17-year relationship with the People's Republic of China State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), The John Marshall Law School Center for Intellectual Property Law (nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report) is hosting a four-week China IP Summer Program June 6 through July 1, which has been approved by the American Bar Association. A highlight of the China IP Summer Program, open to both American and Chinese law students and attorneys, is a mock trial presentation by Chief Judge Randall R. Rader of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit who will preside over the Sino-U.S. comparative appellate mini trial.

"These rich legal resources offered by The John Marshall Law School will help IP attorneys and businesses formulate commercial transactions while protecting intellectual property in China," said Arthur Yuan, executive director of the Chinese Intellectual Property Resource Center. The IP program, at Peking University and at SIPO, is divided into two-week segments offering students law school credit and attorneys continuing legal education credit for classes that include "International Business Organizations" and "Comparative IP Protection Issues in China and the U.S."
