Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Stanley D. Hoehn of The Bariatric Center of Kansas City Supports FDA LAP-BAND(R) Approval


SHAWNEE MISSION, KS--(Marketwire - February 25, 2011) - Dr. Stanley D. Hoehn of The Bariatric Center of Kansas City announced today that he supports the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) approval of the expanded use of the LAP-BAND® System, Allergan's gastric band. Dr. Hoehn has performed more than 1,500 Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedures and more than 1,500 LAP-BAND® gastric banding procedures.

According to the FDA press release on February 16, 2011, the expanded use of the LAP-BAND® System, Allergan's gastric band was approved for adults with obesity who have failed more conservative weight reduction alternatives such as diet and exercise and pharmacotherapy; have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30-40; and at least one obesity related comorbid condition.

Dr. Stanley Hoehn is medical director of the Weight Loss Surgery Program at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and is approved as an ASMBS Bariatric Center of Excellence Surgeon.
