ONA Invites Digital Community to Program Boston Conference With Session Selector

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - February 28, 2011) - The Online News Association, the world's largest association of digital journalists, is looking to the wisdom of the crowd for general session topics at its 2011 Conference and Online Journalism Awards Banquet, Sept. 22-24, in Boston.

Using the ONA11 Session Selector, the digital community is invited to submit session proposals for consideration. Submissions will be accepted through March 8. Then, from March 9 to March 23, the public can vote on general sessions they'd like to see featured during two days of the conference. Community voting will account for about 30 percent of the decision-making process, followed by input from the ONA11 Conference Committee and a Board of Directors representative.

Those interested in speaking and/or organizing a session on a particular topic should first read the Session Selector FAQ, where the process and expectations are outlined.

"Our members and the digital media community are wired into the challenges and victories that come with committing daily journalism," said ONA Executive Director Jane McDonnell. "We know we'll see some game-changing ideas for our next conference."

Registration will open in April for ONA's annual Conference & Awards Banquet, which has sold out for the past four years. ONA11, chaired by John Davidow of WBUR, Michelle Johnson of Boston University and Teresa Hanafin of boston.com, will be held at the Marriott Copley Place in Boston.
