Whittier Main Field Oil Project Moves to Next Step in Process

WHITTIER, Calif., April 6, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Matrix Oil is pleased to announce that the Whittier Main Field Oil Project is moving to the next step in the environmental review process.

With the selection of the Consolidated Central Site ("Preferred Site") as the best project location, and after listening to the community, we have submitted additional data to the City in an amended CUP (Conditional Use Permit) submittal that will allow the City to fully analyze engineering and biological aspects of the Preferred Site. We support that this may result in further actions by City Staff to amend or revise the current Draft Environmental Impact Report of the project at the Preferred Site.

"If additional study is performed and published we expect that the revised Draft EIR will provide a clearer focus of the alternative already analyzed in the Draft EIR and offer additional information about the project at the Consolidated Central Site. With these revisions, we believe potential impacts will have been studied and recommendations for mitigation carefully made," Mike McCaskey, Executive Vice-President of Matrix Oil said.

We are committed to creating the highest quality project that will balance the environmental and economic needs of Whittier and its residents. When the revised Draft EIR is published, we look forward to discussing its findings with the community and listening to the residents' input.
