Tech Firms Compete at WPI Venture Forum's Five-Minute Pitch Contest -- Worcester, June 14

Audience Will Pick a Winner


WORCESTER, MA--(Marketwire - May 31, 2011) - The finalists in the WPI Venture Forum Five-Minute Pitch Contest will make their pitches at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on June 14.

Ten early-stage technology companies will compete in a fast-paced battle for funding and fame. The judges and the audience will evaluate the finalists on their presentation skills and overall performance. Two cash prizes will be awarded, one by the judges and the other based on audience choice.

Finalists are:

  • Arctic Sand -- a fabless semiconductor company offering power converter chips
  • Axena Technologies -- product for combating healthcare-associated infections
  • Factor Bioscience -- provides cells to pharmaceutical companies for drug screening
  • Groupize.com -- Internet travel-booking products
  • Coventry Associates -- manufacturing technology
  • Teleos Solar -- manufacturing equipment
  • RxCap -- implantable device
  • Apt Health -- automated patient interaction
  • Advirna -- Self-deliverable RNAi
  • Energy Harvesters -- energy harvesting

The event will be held at the WPI Campus Center - Odeum, 3rd floor. There will be a networking event from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 5:30 p.m.
