Information Builders Honors Customers for Distinguished Use of BI and Integration Technologies

Dollar General, Scotiabank, and City of Richardson Recognized at Annual Summit Meeting

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - Jun 13, 2011) - Information Builders, an independent leader in business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced the winners of its Awards of Distinction for original and innovative use of BI and integration technology. Information Builders is honoring the winners at its 2011 Summit User Conference, which highlights successful customer implementations along with contributions from leading industry analysts and pundits. Featuring a variety of customer-led sessions addressing relevant business issues, this year's five-day conference also showcases new products, technical breakthroughs, and partner solutions.

The honored customers are deploying BI and integration solutions in manufacturing, government, law enforcement, banking, and logistics. Their work exemplifies the Summit theme of expanding the scope of information technology to improve organizational effectiveness and better serve society.

"We are pleased to highlight the outstanding contributions of these hard-working customers," said Information Builders Founder and CEO Gerald Cohen. "Their innovations represent best practices for BI and integration technology. We can all learn from their successes and accomplishments."

The following Information Builders customers are being recognized with Awards of Distinction during the opening ceremony of the Summit meeting:

Best Enterprise BI - Dollar General
As a retailer with more than 9,300+ stores in 35 states and $13 billion in sales, Dollar General selected WebFOCUS to put valuable analytic capabilities into the hands of their employees, including a Store Operations dashboard that serves over 800 Corporate and field level associates. Employees use WebFOCUS throughout the enterprise so they can easily access, review and analyze critical corporate information, regardless of their level of technical-savvy as they review sales and shrink reports, key performance indicator (KPI) reports and store performance metrics. The BI environment seamlessly accesses data from a 1010Data platform along with Oracle, SQL Server and DB2. Users output reports and charts in HTML, Excel or PDF formats.

Best Use of iWay and Highest ROI - Scotiabank
With more than 12.5 million customers in 50 countries around the world, Scotiabank offers a wide array of products including personal, commercial, corporate, and investment banking services. To streamline integration among delivery channels and across product and service lines, Scotiabank standardized on integration technology from iWay Software. For example, Scotiabank used iWay Service Manager to develop data interfaces to its Sales Builder system, which automated the sales reporting process and freed up more than 72,000 hours per year, allowing staff members to spend more time advising customers. Scotiabank's investment in these IT capabilities has an expected return of several million dollars per year on a go-forward basis. In addition to this exceptional ROI, the bank has several other gauges for measuring the success of each iWay project, including a positive response from the sales staff, less time spent in development, the ability to open new business channels more quickly and a growing repository of integration assets, which means they don't have to develop new interfaces from scratch.

Best Mobile BI Application - City of Richardson, Texas
The City of Richardson has used WebFOCUS since 2005 throughout many departments, including accounting, budgeting, building inspection, municipal court, crime, fire, and neighborhood protection. The city recently created a mobile reporting environment to send information about active 911 calls to police and fire chiefs, to synchronize citywide information about calendars and scheduling, and to track and manage vital city resources. Using their BlackBerrys, officers can obtain information about the criminals being held in the city's jail. They can drill down to the details of each person's incarceration, including the crimes for which they are being held. Police chiefs and fire chiefs can also track active 911 calls from these mobile devices, including the status of patrol cars, fire trucks, and ambulances. WebFOCUS is saving time and resources for hundreds of employees and city resources are being used more effectively than ever before, thanks to the city's real-time reporting capabilities.
