Microsemi Achieves AS9100 Rev C and ISO 9001 Certifications

Company is First FPGA Supplier to Achieve Compliance with Key Aviation, Space, and Defense Quality System Requirements

IRVINE, Calif., June 30, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, today announced that the company's SoC Product Group achieved compliance with new, stringent AS9100 Rev C quality system requirements for aviation, space, and defense markets. The new revision of AS9100 includes an increased focus on risk management, supplier management controls, on-time delivery, and product conformity measurements, including taking appropriate actions against vendors when planned results are not achieved. Microsemi has more than 20 years of flight-proven reliability, and offers low-power flash- and antifuse-based FPGAs for use in aerospace and avionics applications. The company is the first field programmable gate array (FPGA) supplier to achieve AS9100 Rev C certification.

Microsemi's SoC group also earned IS0 9001: 2008 certifications for meeting rigorous quality management standards (QMS) for systems and processes. The quality audits were conducted by NSF International Strategic Registrations, Ltd., a leader in management systems registrations for clients throughout the world.

"We strive to ensure the highest quality products, processes, and quality management systems by proactively achieving key certifications, which aligns with our commitment to continuous improvement in all areas of operations," said Lisa Konigsberg, director of quality for Microsemi SoC Products Group. "In addition, achieving or exceeding the tighter customer satisfaction requirements in AS9100 Rev C allows us to offer an added level of quality assurance to our customers, and further solidify our reputation as a trusted and proven provider of highly reliable and secure products."

The AS9100 Rev C standard was developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) in order to satisfy internal, government, and regulatory requirements. The goal of the IAQG is to improve product quality and on-time delivery of products. This is accomplished through the cooperative implementation of initiatives intended to make significant improvements in quality and reductions in cost throughout the value stream.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification is an international standard that defines good management practices. It provides a global standard that spells out quality and trust. To meet its requirements, an organization must demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet applicable regulatory requirements and satisfy customer needs.

Micosemi's SoC Product Group also holds certifications for PURE, STACK, QML MIL-PRF-38535 (Classes Q and N), and is a Sony Green Partner.
