This release provides three key enhancements to the eHealth Connect service. The first is support for Emergency/Trauma workflows enabling immediate review of diagnostic-quality images before they have been reported upon, which is an important capability for rural locations connected to the Health Information Exchange (HIE). The second enhancement is a more flexible distributed architecture which will more readily adapt to the needs of very large image providers, like academic hospitals that are concerned with fast access to their imaging exams; as well as very small environments, like Critical Access Hospitals, that are concerned with low-cost connectivity. The third key advancement is the availability of an "image exchange utility" model that allows a Health Information Exchange (HIE) to simply "plug in" to the eHGT image exchange service, enabling the deployment of a secure web-link to diagnostic images within the existing Radiology reporting workflow.
