Positec Moves to New Office Location in Charlotte Because of Rapid Growth, Plans Additional Distribution Space

Company Supporting Local and State Economy Through Additional Hiring, Spending and Facility Expansion Plans

CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 15, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Positec Tool Corporation, a global company that manufactures and markets power tools, lawn and garden equipment and accessories including the Rockwell and Worx product lines, today announced that it is moving its Charlotte-based North American headquarters into a new office location at 10130 Perimeter Parkway. The company has decided to further consolidate its presence in North Carolina, and plans to move its retail distribution from California to the greater Charlotte area in the coming months.

"Having grown from just five employees to over 100 associates in Charlotte in the last five years,  we ran out of expansion opportunities at our previous location ," said Tom Duncan, President and CEO of Positec Tool Corp. "We wanted to design a new office space that offered us more functionality and flexibility while reflecting our energy and culture. It was also extremely important for us to stay in the North Charlotte area in order to minimize the impact on employee commutes and continue our long-term commitment to the greater Charlotte community."

The long-term lease for approximately 25,000 sq. ft. is for the entire third floor of the 5-story Linville office building, and is co-located with Positec’s 26,000 sq. ft. reverse-logistics warehouse facility in the Perimeter Woods Business Park, both locations managed by Trinity Partners. Positec spent over $1.5 million to renovate the space, and awarded the design and construction contracts to two Charlotte-area companies: corporate interior architecture firm REDLINE Design Group and commercial general contractor Harker-Doerre.

"We were very impressed with both Redline and Harker-Doerre and their ability to create and build an office environment that meets the unique needs of our growing company," noted Duncan.

The office features an open floor plan designed to facilitate collaboration, and includes several designated areas: a 24-seat training facility, a 44-seat call center, a creative marketing area, a demonstration workshop as well as plenty of video-enabled meeting space and offices.

In accordance to the company’s overall commitment to sustainable manufacturing and green products, the newly-built space features many environment-friendly elements including low voltage lighting, use of recycled materials, low-flow plumbing in restrooms as well as ample use of natural light. Positec has applied for LEED Silver certification for their new space.

The company recently held a job fair at the new office, and received applications from over 250 applicants to fill 20 new positions in its state-of-the-art call center.

Positec is also in the process of re-locating its retail distribution facility from Long Beach, CA to Huntersville, NC in a partnership with it logistics partner Performance Team Inc. based in Santa Fe Springs, CA. Positec will occupy approximately 120,000 sq ft. of distribution space in the Huntersville Business park which will be leased and operated by PTI. PTI is expected to hire up to 30 new associates to support Positec’s retail distribution operations at the Huntersville location.

"We see significant benefits from being able to service our key retail partners from an East Coast facility, and Charlotte offers an ideal location to take advantage of those efficiencies," says Paul Tellefsen, CFO/COO for Positec Tool Corp.
