WILMINGTON, Del., Aug. 22, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WSFS Financial Corporation (Nasdaq:WSFS), the parent company of WSFS Bank, today announced that John L. Olsen has joined the management team as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Olsen comes to WSFS with over 25 years of financial and legal industry experience in Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Olsen began his career as an Associate at Lassen, Smith, Katzenstein & Furlow. In 1986, he moved to Duane, Morris and Heckscher where he performed general corporate, commercial, and securities practice, including counseling clients on Delaware corporate and commercial law issues. In 1994, Mr. Olsen transitioned to Wilmington Trust where he most recently served as Vice President and Counsel.

A resident of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Mr. Olsen holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from George Washington University. He is an active member of both the Delaware and Pennsylvania State Bar Associations, including the Delaware State Bar UCC Revision Committee. Mr. Olsen chairs the Government Affairs Committee of the Delaware Bankers Association and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association's Legal Affairs Advisory Committee.  In addition, he is currently the President of the Board of Directors of Generations Home Care, Inc., and previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation.
