Quipu Applications Announces Boot-Strap America Business Plan Competition

Offers Quipu BusinessPlan(TM) Software, Total of $65,000 in Seed Funding to Three Qualified Business Plan Creators at U.S. Colleges, Community Colleges and Universities

LAFAYETTE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 15, 2011) - Quipu Applications, Inc., a Cloud Computing company revolutionizing the way entrepreneurs and VCs communicate and collaborate, today announced the launch of its Boot-Strap America program -- Starting up America One Business Plan at a Time competition. The unique competition invites students to create, manage and submit their start-up business plan using Quipu's dynamic, cloud-based BusinessPlan™ tool for a chance to win up to $30,000 in seed financing. Deadline for submissions is February 14, 2012.

Michael Issa, CEO and co-founder of Quipu Applications, Inc., elaborates on the mindset behind his company's competition, "The entrepreneurial spirit is still alive and well in the U.S. -- it's just stifled by difficult economic times, market uncertainties and lack of funding. At Quipu, we want to help give several brilliant ideas the elusive seed money to get off the ground, grow and create jobs. Who knows, the next Groupon, LinkedIn or Zynga may just be waiting for a little financial boost."

The Boot-Strap America competition welcomes business plan submissions from all U.S.-based, full-time students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in business schools and higher education institutions, including two-year degrees at community colleges. Students submitting applications need not be U.S. citizens, but must have a definitive business plan for a start-up company. Business plans previously funded are not eligible. All business plans submitted must be the work of the student submitting and submitted via a participating university using Quipu's incQubator™. incQubator is available to Universities at no charge through the National University and College Branded Communities campaign which enables national Technology Transfer Offices to create branded BusinessPlan™ communities for the secure monitoring of their investment portfolios.

All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of qualified judges -- with expertise in respective fields of business, venture capital, and law -- on creativity, originality, conception, marketing, competitive analysis, and potential financial forecast. Three winning students will be selected, with the first place winner receiving $30,000, second place $20,000 and third place $15,000. In addition, five students will receive honourable mentions and may continue free access to Quipu social Dashboard and BusinessPlan, enabling them to upload their business plan and monitor its progress for one year. Winners of the competition will be announced through a nationally distributed press release and via social media networks in June 2012.

"Unlike other national business plan competitions, Boot-Strap America is the only program that offers students and educators the use of the industry's most comprehensive entrepreneurial management tool. Educators can engage their own curriculum and financial models for collaboration with their students and the social dashboard business plan software tool adjusts to the individual pedagogy," Issa continued. "Quipu's intuitive, cloud-based software will enable each student to develop and manage a dynamic business plan complete with collaboration, financials, documents, project management, integrated blog, research, wikis, posts, and grouping."
