Northwest Credit Union Association Bestows a CUNA Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award Upon O Bee Credit Union

TUMWATER, WA--(Marketwire - Sep 27, 2011) - Another major award from the NWCUA was won by the O Bee Credit Union -- the CUNA Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award, which was given in recognition of O Bee's highly innovative Capture The Tag promotion. The award was presented during the Northwest Credit Union Association's annual convention September 20-22 at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma, WA. Capture The Tag was a digital age contest in which participants armed with smart phones were unleashed on a treasure hunt to scan and collect 30 Microsoft MS tags (20 business tags and 10 education tags) that played videos on their phones giving them clues to the location of the next tag, along with personal finance tips and advice. O Bee worked closely with the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions to develop the financial education content and videos.

The Desjardins Awards were created to recognize leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of financial literacy for all ages. The recognition program considers all activities supporting the personal finance education of members and nonmembers, including, but not limited to, face-to-face teaching using proprietary materials and curricula such as the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program® (HSFPP) as well as financial literacy leadership efforts. The award is named after Alphonse Desjardins.
