Millions of People to Benefit From Telvent Technology in China

PetroChina Continues to Rely on Telvent Solutions - the Latest for Managing One of the Longest Pipeline in China, Safely and Efficiently

ROCKVILLE, Md., Oct. 6, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent GIT, S.A., a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that it will be providing the information management technology that will optimize monitoring and control of the new Zhongwei-Guiyang Gas Pipeline being planned by PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina); the pipeline is being designed for annual gas transmission of 15 billion cubic meters at full operation, to provide energy for millions of people. The Telvent solution will integrate station-level management with existing centralized network control, enhancing safety and security and optimizing daily operations.

PetroChina currently operates with Telvent's OASyS enterprise information management technology at its Main Control Center at Beijing; this centralized system automates monitoring and control of its main hydrocarbon pipelines. It will be adding the Station OASyS solution at stations along the new Zhongwei-Guiyang Gas Pipeline, which will traverse 1633 kilometers through five Chinese provinces and Chongqing City. This scalable solution gives local controllers the ability to adjust pipeline section control as needed for abnormal situations, as well as control redundancy to backup the main control center. In addition to optimizing operational efficiency, safety and security of this major pipeline, the unified control system will minimize PetroChina's overall implementation and training costs related to the new pipeline.

According to Telvent's chairman and CEO Ignacio Gonzalez, "This recent agreement reflects the continuing success PetroChina is experiencing with Telvent's advanced pipeline control solutions and the speed and quality of its project delivery and local support. We truly appreciate this long-term partnership that is helping achieve reliable and sustainable energy for the Chinese market."

PetroChina recently implemented Telvent SCADA technology for its new Qin-Shen natural gas pipeline in the northern part of the country. Telvent SCADA systems also are serving the new Sichuan-East Gas pipeline extension for Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation), the second-largest oil and gas operators in China, and the Jingbian-Xi'an Gas Pipeline, operated by the Shaanxi Provincial Natural Gas Pipeline Company, Ltd.
