AlliedBarton Security Services, HR Plus and NC4 Present a Free Workplace Violence Prevention Seminar in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Oct 18, 2011) - AlliedBarton Security Services, the industry's premier provider of highly trained security personnel, and HR Plus, a leading provider of comprehensive solutions for employment and background screening, in partnership with NC4 will host a free workplace violence prevention seminar from 7:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Springs Preserve located at 333 S. Valley View Blvd., Las Vegas, NV.

Seminar speaker Dr. Steve Albrecht, PHR, CPP, author of Ticking Bombs, and the San Diego Chapter President for the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals said, "Both here and around the world, violent attacks at our workplaces and schools are always a possibility. The behaviors, tactics and approaches of potentially violent subjects demand our full attention. We need to focus both on their motives and on interrupting their opportunities. This workshop will help shape your responses when victims of threat and violence need your help the most."

"Workplace violence is an overwhelming trend that cannot be exaggerated," said Tom Donohue, Vice President, AlliedBarton Security Services. "Businesses and organizations need to realize that incidents can happen at their facility, to their employees, but it can be prevented. Prevention starts with education and awareness. AlliedBarton and our seminar partners have collaborated to bring educational information and resources to the Las Vegas area to help decrease the chances of a workplace violence tragedy."

"An organization's readiness to respond to threatening situations, whether they be from internal or external forces, begins with knowledge," said Jim Montagnino, NC4 President and CEO. "From knowledge comes awareness and the ability to circumvent risk to the organizations we serve."

"The importance of identifying and/or eliminating the issues leading to workplace violence can avoid headlines that no business or industry can afford in addition to the long-term negative impact on employees," said Dr. Bob Taylor, Clinical Psychologist, Retired Director of the Employee Assistance Program for the University Medical Center in Las Vegas. "Learning to identify warning signs of potential problems rather than denying or avoiding them can improve management-labor relations. It says, 'We care.'"

Discussion and workshop topics will include workplace violence prevention using Threat Assessment Teams; getting employee assistance program support for workplace violence threat cases; and protecting your people and assets.

Seminar attendees will be able to tour Springs Preserve after the seminar and will also receive a complimentary eBook preview of Bill Whitmore's new book, "Potential: Workplace Violence Prevention and Your Organizational Success." When the book is released later this year, attendees will receive a free eBook.

Potential, www.potentialthebook.com, shows how a range of stakeholders -- from CEOs and other senior leaders to building management, human resources, contract security and law enforcement -- can work together to lower an organization's workplace violence risk and enhance its overall morale and performance.

Speakers during the seminar will include: Dr. Steve Albrecht, PHR, CPP, San Diego Chapter President for the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals; Dr. Bob Taylor, Clinical Psychologist, Retired Director of the Employee Assistance Program for the University Medical Center in Las Vegas; John Moranz, Director of Sales, NC4; and Tom Donohue, Vice President, AlliedBarton Security Services.

Media interested in attending this event are encouraged to RSVP to the press contact in this release.
