BP Solar Selects Telvent Control Technology for Global Operations Center

Telvent Solution Helps BP Solar Provide Real-Time Management of Solar Production and Usage at Installation Sites Across the Globe

ROCKVILLE, Md., Oct. 18, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent GIT, S.A. (Nasdaq:TLVT), a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that it has been selected by BP Solar International, Inc., an alternative energy subsidiary to BP (NYSE:BP) and one of the world's leading solar companies, to deploy control technology for BP Solar's Global Operations Center initiative. Collecting solar data across the world will enable BP Solar to accurately verify data reporting − both by BP Solar as well as its clients − regarding solar usage and capacity, which is one element of BP Solar's energy management services.

Telvent provides an integrated solution that enables BP Solar to view, monitor and control all solar production and usage on a global level. The fully redundant hosting system allows BP Solar to interface with its regional operation centers located in the United States and Spain.

Client portals designed by Telvent further support BP Solar and its customers to monitor daily solar production, collection and use as well as helping customers forecast whether daily solar generation will cover demand for power. The information being collected allows for individual plant analysis and comparison of performance, but also serves as a complete information management solution for the company as a whole, helping to optimize the operational efficiency of BP Solar business around the world, and contributing towards better business decision-making.

According to Telvent's Chairman and CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez, "We are proud that our solution will help BP Solar with its Global Operations Center initiative and continue its mission of designing, manufacturing and marketing solar electric systems around the globe. Telvent provides seamless, sustainable energy solutions that make business sense."

With the first stage of implementation, Telvent will provide hosting, monitoring and control services for BP Solar plants, stations, customers and offices around the globe. An established market leader providing real-time information solutions for global energy markets, Telvent manages more than 60 percent of the total hydrocarbon movements in North America and Latin American pipelines, largely in North America and crude oil and refined fuels. BP Solar represents a first-of-its-kind project as serves as an expansion of Telvent's offerings in the solar business as the company helps centralize and manage BP Solar's collection of data from assets located across the globe.
