SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Oct 21, 2011) - Atossa Genetics, Inc., a privately-held health care company focused on offering a comprehensive set of innovative, proprietary breast health evaluation products and services that provide accurate and actionable results for personalized cancer prevention and breast health, announced today that Steven C. Quay, M.D., Ph.D., FCAP, Chairman, President & CEO of Atossa Genetics and Director of the National Reference Laboratory for Breast Health, will participate in Active Communications International's 4th National Conference on Next Generation Comprehensive Breast Centers of Excellence, which will take place on October 26-28 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Quay, along with Dr. Massimo Cristofanilli, Chairman of the Department of Medical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, will conduct a pre-conference workshop titled "Expanding the Reach of the Breast Cancer Center through Companion Molecular Tests." The workshop, which will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., will focus on two topics: 1) Ruling out Breast Cancer at the Annual Gynecology or Breast Clinic Visit; and 2) Reassuring the Breast Cancer Survivor.

"We are proud to be a sponsor of this prestigious annual gathering of representatives from the Breast Centers of Excellence in the U.S.," stated Dr. Quay. "During the pre-conference workshop, we will explain the biology and role of nipple aspirate fluid testing (NAF) and the pathologist's analysis of the test results used prior to imaging in women 20-50 years old, a group not routinely having mammography today. We will also facilitate a discussion about how adding the NAF testing to women ages 50 and over during their annual breast screening will re-assure low risk women of their breast health, even after a negative biopsy and mammography."
