Mondo to exhibit state-of-the-art flooring ideal for park and recreation facilities at NRPA Congress

Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, UNITED STATES

ATLANTA, Nov. 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mondo, the global leader in sports flooring, will feature four of its sports flooring products at the National Recreation and Park Association's Congress and Exposition 2011 this week at the Georgia World Congress Center (Booth 2212) in Atlanta.

At the exhibition, Mondo will display a selection of products that are ideally suited for park and recreation facilities, including its Sportflex and Mondoten multipurpose sport surfaces, and its Mondoturf artificial turf system with its groundbreaking 3NX fiber and Thermo-bonded backing.

A versatile, Greenguard-certified surface, Sportflex is designed to meet the needs of indoor and outdoor multipurpose applications. It boasts more than 20 years of proven performance and durability, making it the industry standard for multipurpose use. Sportflex was engineered to withstand static and rolling loads, such as bleachers, tables and chairs, and its life expectancy of 20 or more years is unparalleled in the industry. Stain resistant, Sportflex does not require any coatings or specialized maintenance.

Mondoten is a unique, factory-engineered, high-performance system that can be used for a variety of sports, including indoor and outdoor tennis, and multipurpose outdoor applications. It also can be used for permanent or temporary installation, and for competitive or recreational play. Mondoten combines an acrylic coating system and a shock absorption layer to provide consistent and true ball bounce for the life of the surface. The flooring provides excellent grip and traction in all weather conditions and is biomechanically engineered to reduce player fatigue and injury.

Among Mondo's latest innovations that enhance the durability and playability of its artificial turf fields include its 3NX fiber and Thermo-bonded backing.

Engineered by the Mondo Research Center in collaboration with other high-performance laboratories, the 3NX fiber has proven core characteristics that allow it to perfectly mimic the responses of natural grass, and to do so with outstanding resilience and durability while offering superior player comfort. The 3NX fiber's translational and rotational friction characteristics lend themselves to easy pivots and turns for football or soccer, even in high-torque scenarios. Ball roll and bounce mimic roll and bounce on natural grass.

Thermo-bonded, Mondo's newest artificial turf backing, uses proprietary technology to provide a dimensionally stable tufted turf without needing a polyurethane secondary backing. Instead, a dual primary backing holds the turf fibers more securely in place—40 percent better than the industry standard—so it can be handled as necessary with virtually no fiber loss. The non-stretchable backing prevents elongation or other stretching of the turf. As a result, the quality of the turf, including the integrity of the pattern and the quantity of the fiber per unit area, remain consistent. Mondo's proprietary technology also increases drainage by 100 percent in comparison to traditional polyurethane systems.

"These products are engineered for indoor or outdoor use, and to be safe and durable, which are important attributes for park and recreational facilities," said Federico Stroppiana, vice president, strategic development, Mondo Group. "The versatility of Mondo's products also enables park and recreation facilities to maximize the use of their surface space and increase the availability of programming and activities, which means more facility traffic and participation."
